At 2 a.m., police responded to the 40 block of Napoleon Street and found a man suffering from lacerations to his face after he was assaulted and robbed by two to three suspects, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said.
Two of the men exited the vehicle and approached the man from behind, striking him in the face with a handgun, Fragé said. During the attack, the man fell to the ground, and the suspects took his wallet, containing $1,600, identification and debit cards, Fragé said.
They then got into their white-colored, four-door vehicle and drove away, Fragé said. The suspects wore dark clothing and the vehicle had tints on the window, and a fog light on the driver’s side, Fragé said.
